Stranger Things Creators Reveal Season 5's Plot Focus and Two Key Locations

WARNING: This article contains spoilers for Stranger Things Season 4.

Stranger Things Season 4 highlighted Vecna, 001, or Henry Creel's origin story alongside the Hawkins gang's frightening adventure into the Upside Down to conquer the villain. With the show's latest season, fans discovered that Eleven was somehow involved in the creation of the Upside Down, and Vecna appears to be the King of the eerie dimension. But just when we all thought that we've divulged everything there is from the Upside Down, apparently, we are all wrong.

In an interview with Collider, Stranger Things Season 4 creators Matt and Ross Duffer teased some new details about the show's finale. The Duffer Brothers revealed that the setting for Season 5 would focus on Hawkins and the Upside Down. Even though Season 4 disclosed some major information about Vecna and the eerie dimension he rules, Season 5 intends to extensively expose what the Upside Down really is.

"It's mostly in Hawkins, and there's a lot obviously in the Upside Down ... We do a couple more big reveals in Volume 2, but it's all related to Vecna, Henry, and his journey," Ross said. "But what we haven't really discussed is exactly what the Upside Down is ... The big reveals that are coming in Season 5 are really about the Upside Down itself, which we only start to hint at. There is that moment where we realize in episode seven this year that it's frozen in time."

The conclusion of Season 4 sees the Hawkins gang all together back in their city. Sadly, Vecna succeeded in cutting the line that separates Upside Down and Hawkins, which means that he is now not just the ruler of the dimension, but has also taken over Hawkins. That said, it sets up an epic final battle between the Hawkins gang and Vecna, and after witnessing how strong the villain is, being together would be the wisest way to overthrow the villain.

It's also interesting to unravel what's more to discover with the Upside Down. Season 4's climax spots Will feeling the strange sensation again which usually means that a monster from Upside Down is very active or close. With that, it seems that Will is still somehow tied with the dimension. Nevertheless, it's still too early to assume what's about to happen in the final season. But for sure, it would more compelling than Season 4.

All episodes of Stranger Things Season 4 are now available to stream on Netflix.
