Stranger Things 3 is Themed Around 'Change'

Stranger Things is possibly one of the most popular shows on Netflix, and after a year of hiatus, the show is ready to come back with its third season this July. The new trailer has shown us that Mike and the gang have grown quite a bit since the last season, and as it turns out, ‘change' is going to be the prevalent theme in Season Three.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly, show co-creator Matt Duffer explains:

"We wanted to explore the theme of change… The season takes place during the last summer before high school. The kids are growing up, and that transition is going to be messy and awkward and painful. Are they able to grow up without growing apart?... Eleven closed the Gate, but the Mind Flayer is still alive in the Upside Down… It will find another way into Hawkins... It's just a matter of time."

Another new fan-favorite to come out of the show is bully-turned-hero Steve, and it looks like we'll be seeing more of his "mom" energy shine through in Stranger Things 3. Dustin actor Faten Matarazzo says, "You definitely see more of that… That's what I really like about Matt and Ross [Duffer]: They know what fans like and they roll with it."

With Game of Thrones out of the way, Netflix is smart to start showing people what the next hot show is going to be. After missing out on Halloween last year, we're actually going to be getting a season during the summer, and even the plot has been tweaked so we could see what summer is like in Hawkins as well.

Catch Stranger Things 3 when it hits Netflix July 4.
