Steven Spielberg has been trending on Twitter this week, and the sudden rise on the social media site's trend list has gotten fans worrying that the critically-acclaimed director might have suddenly died.
The past few days, the #StevenSpielberg tag has been making the round on Twitter. Apparently, the iconic filmmaker who's directed films like Jurassic Park, Jaws, Shindler's List, and more recently, Ready Player One has somehow found himself in the trend list because of his birthday. Spielberg was born on December 18, 1946, and some have been celebrating the occasion online.
However, the new hashtag has somehow set off a chain of reactions that have lead to a death hoax, with fans worrying that the new trend for Spielberg spelled out the director's passing. It might sound ridiculous for fans to believe that Spielberg's passed away when the director has been doing pretty well, but when a famous name trends, it often means that person's death.
Luckily, some netizens decided to clarify the news before shocking themselves into believing that Spielberg had passed away.
Of course, the trend couldn't be farther from the truth. The filmmaker still has so much to do in the Hollywood industry. Right now, Spielberg is planning to work on a remake of the West Side Story called The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara.
Aside from that, the director has another Indiana Jones movie to work on too. It would be terrible to hear that the filmmaker actually passed before he could finish all that he set out to do.
