Stephen King's The Stand Series Casts Fiona Dourif as Rat Man

The highly anticipated series adaptation of The Stand has just added another big name to its already stellar cast. The new show based on Stephen King's novel has cast Cult of Chucky star Fiona Dourif as Rat Man.

The casting news was confirmed by Syfy Wire, revealing that The Stand will feature a gender-bent Ratty Erwins. Interestingly, Dourif admitted that she is excited about taking on the role.

"I'm playing Rat Man. You guys remember Rat Man? Rat Man is now Rat Woman, which is great. I read the book and watched the miniseries. I love The Stand," she said.

In the book, The Rat Man is one of the characters introduced in Las Vegas. He is described as a pirate-like hoodlum and isn't a trustworthy person. Nevertheless, the idea that he (or in the show's case, she) will be played by Dourif could give the character more depth.

Dourif is best known for her connection to the horror genre, as she has appeared in Curse of Chucky and Fear Clinic. In addition to that, she's the daughter of the legendary Brad Dourif, who provided the voice of Chucky. Needless to say, we can't wait to see her version of Ratty Erwins.

The Stand will also star James Marsden as Stu Redman, Amber Heard as Nadine Cross, Greg Kinnear as Glen Bateman, Odessa Young as Frannie Goldsmith, Henry Zaga as Nick Andros, Whoopi Goldberg as Mother Abagail, Jovan Adepo as Larry Underwood, and Owen Teague as Harold Lauder. Alexander Skarsgaard has been cast as the terrifying Randall Flagg.

The series has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
