The DC Extended Universe has seen a lot of projects under development get canceled over the last month alone, all thanks to Warner Bros. Discovery's attempt to shake up the franchise. While some fans see it as a prime opportunity for the production company to finally reestablish the DCEU, others couldn't help but get worried for the future of other films such as the live-action Static Shock project.

The project has been in development for quite some time now with Black Panther actor Michael B. Jordan set to produce. However, the recent WB Discovery "purge" has a lot of fans worried about the project potentially being removed unceremoniously from the DCEU's slate of upcoming projects.

There are even rumors suggesting that Static Shock is the next film to receive the axe from David Zaslav but it turns out that's not the case. According to Nikolas Draper-Ivey, who co-wrote and served as an artist for the Static: Shadows of Dakota comic, all the speculation surrounding the DCEU film's cancelation is false and fans should have nothing to worry about.

Taking to Twitter, he wrote: "Stop speculating about the Static movie. Don’t worry about those articles and be patient. I will not elaborate on this any further."

As it stands, details about DC's Static Shock film are still being kept under wraps but the latest update from Draper-Ivey should give fans a great deal of relief knowing that the project is still moving forward as planned. It would be great though if Michael B. Jordan can offer fans some much-needed update about its production status.

Meanwhile, the DCEU's next film Black Adam will hit cinemas on October 21, 2022.
