Black Panther Star Michael B. Jordan Producing Static Shock Movie

Though Black Panther may be the black icon in modern comic book films, there are a lot of black heroes in comics and TV. DC FanDome had announced the revival of Static Shock, and what's interesting is, one Black Panther star is attached as a producer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael B. Jordan (Erik Killmonger) is now attached as a producer for the Static Shock movie. Jordan said about the project:

"I'm proud to be a part of building a new universe centered around black superheroes; our community deserves that… Outlier Society is committed to bringing to life diverse comic book content across all platforms and we are excited to partner with Reggie and Warner Bros on this initial step."

We don't really have any details for the movie yet, but Static Shock is set to make a return in comics sometime in 2021. Hopefully by then it will gradually build an audience ready for a film centered on Static.

In the show that ran from 2000–2004, Static was a young boy named Virgil who gained powers over electricity after he was exposed to an experimental gas. Together with his friend Richie/Gear, Static takes on other individuals (called Bang babies) who have been exposed to the same gas and wreak havoc around the city. While Static did have his own show, he had also made appearances in other DC materials like Justice League Unlimited.

No release date has been set for Static Shock, but hopefully we could get a big update before the year ends.
