Sad news, Arrowverse fans. Another beloved series has shockingly been axed over at The CW as Stargirl will no longer be renewed for a fourth season. The show joins the likes of Batwoman and The Flash which have both been put on the chopping block. As per a report from Deadline, the creative minds behind the series top-billed by Brec Bassinger already knew about the cancelation.

It turns out that the decision came from Nexstar, the conglomerate that recently acquired The CW. Luckily, the heads-up allowed the show's writers to craft a suitable ending for the project which made its debut during the height of the pandemic.

On Twitter, Bassinger confirmed the unfortunate news, saying that she's feeling a lot of things currently. Still, she extends her gratitude to the people who made her superhero break happen.

In a heartfelt tweet, Bassinger wrote: "If Stargirl taught me anything, it’s to believe in Destiny. Everything happens for a reason. Feeling a lot of things, but more than anything, feeling gratitude for these past four years. Thank you everyone. Thank you Stargirl". Check it out here:

As it stands, the network has yet to issue an official statement regarding the show's cancelation but it seems to be an indication that the Arrowverse could be coming to an end, especially with the recent announcement that James Gunn and Peter Safran are now leading DC Studios, the outfit that will be overseeing future live-action projects for the DC Universe.

New episodes of Stargirl premiere on Wednesdays on The CW.
