Star Wars’ John Boyega Says The Rise Of Skywalker Is The ‘War That Ends Everything’

There's certainly a lot of excitement building up over Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Not only is the film set as the final chapter in Lucasfilm's Star Wars sequel trilogy, but it's also set as the culmination of the past forty years of the Skywalker saga.

Speaking in an interview with MTV News, Star Wars sequel trilogy star John Boyega opens up about the upcoming Star Wars film set for release later in December this year. During the interview, not only does the actor confirm that he might be playing stormtrooper-turned-Resistance-fighter Finn for the very last time, but he also calls The Rise of Skywalker as the "war that just ends everything."

"Honestly, the bottom of my heart, I don't think that I am [going to play Finn again]," Boyega said when asked by the entertainment news outlet what Finn's future would be, "This really is that movie. I think everyone doesn't believe it but this is that war that just ends everything."

We hope this means major fight sequences in The Rise of Skywalker – though the teaser trailer for the film already promises an epic showdown between Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). Of course, this doesn't necessarily mean that The Rise of Skywalker will mark the end of Lucasfilm's galaxy far, far away. The studio still has a couple of trilogies on the way. There's a film series being developed by Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson is also working on his own trilogy.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
