Star Wars: Werner Herzog Says The Mandalorian is 'Cinema Back at its Best'

There is little doubt that every actor working on a project would only have good things to say about it. However, Werner Herzog takes his praise for The Mandalorian to a new level. The man who plays the mysterious client claims that the Disney+ series is "cinema back at its best."

Herzog was recently in attendance at a screening of the show at the El Capitan theater in Hollywood (via Collider). During the onstage panel, the filmmaker admitted that he loved working on the series.

"I enjoyed every single moment of it," Herzog said. "And I think it's beyond what we are seeing on the screen. It's cinema back at its best."

Herzog went on by stating that The Mandalorian wasn't filmed like most movies these days.

"On the big fantasy films, actors were acting almost like robots in front of green screens, you didn't see the world that you were inhabiting," he said. "Here the actors see the entire universe in which they are operating and the camera does the same. The camera sees it as well so cinema is back to its very life, where it had been. And it becomes very, very Iively, it's not robotic. It's got a very, very intense life in it."

It's awesome to know that creator Jon Favreau took the old-school approach when working on The Mandalorian. It adds to the intensity of each episode we've seen so far and can't wait to see how the first season will continue.

The first two episodes of The Mandalorian are now streaming on Disney+.
