Star Wars Video Reveals the Inside of Rey’s Yellow Lightsaber in The Rise of Skywalker

Star Wars fans might have gotten used to seeing Rey (Daisy Riddley) wave around Luke Skywalker's (Mark Hamill) blue lightsaber in every major battle in Disney's Star Wars sequel trilogy, but in the final act of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker viewers get to see the Star Wars hero get her very own lightsaber with its own unique coloring.

Now, thanks to a new concept art post, fans get to see the inner workings of Rey's yellow-bladed lightsaber.

Mattsav.concept just recently shared some art from The Rise of Skywalker on Instagram and the post reveals the design that the concept art team did for Rey's yellow lightsaber. Though the inner details of the weapon weren't featured in any way in Episode IX, Abrams initially wanted to explore the making of Rey's lightsaber. In fact, there was supposed to be a scene showing Rey crafting her own weapon at the end of The Rise of Skywalker.

You can check out the concept art piece down here:

"It wasn't needed in the end but we did design the inner workings and kyber crystal cage for Rey's lightsaber. Drawn before we knew what colour the blade would be. Swipe for animation," Mattsav.concept wrote on his post.

You can tell by the details of the concept art that Matt and his team put in a lot of effort into creating the inner design of Rey's lightsaber. It's such a shame that we never really got to see these details in The Rise of Skywalker.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is available for streaming on Disney+.
