Chapter 13 of The Mandalorian was home to a jaw-dropping tease regarding the potential appearance of iconic Star Wars villain Grand Admiral Thrawn in the hit Disney+ series and fans were delighted to find out that the imposing baddie could play a vital role in the show in the near future. Now, legendary sci-fi and fantasy author Timothy Zahn, best-known for his work in Thrawn's own series of Star Wars spinoff novels shares his thoughts on the character's live-action future.
In a recent post on Facebook, Zahn confirmed that he's not in any way attached to the series but he's eagerly awaiting what Lucasfilm's next move will be. He said: "No, I was not holding back on you (or anyone else). I was (and am) completely out of the loop on all things Mandalorian. The first I heard about Ahsoka's name-dropping question was when people began peppering this page with comments, questions, and verbal high-fives."
Zahn continued: "So what will happen next? Your guesses are as good as mine. One thing I do know: Good writers/producers/directors don't drop a bombshell like that without some kind of follow-up somewhere down the line. I'll be sitting right there with all the rest of you, eagerly waiting to see how the saga unfolds. Hopefully, it will be artistically done."
As it stands, we're still unsure whether Thrawn will be making a stunning appearance in the second season or not but if Jon Favreau and his team were smart, they'd recruit the services of Zahn as a creative consultant. The man obviously knows the character better than anyone else and to assure that Thrawn will be handled flawlessly, Zahn should be there to oversee things. After all, The Mandalorian is all about bringing legit fan service to its viewers so I say let's keep that tradition going.
