Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Will Introduce New Enemy, Says John Boyega

It's already been established that Emperor Sheev Palpatine will be the Big Bad in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. However, John Boyega is teasing on an entirely new villain that will be introduced in Episode IX.

Boyega recently attended the D23 Expo 2019 to promote The Rise of Skywalker. He also spoke to Variety where he was asked if the upcoming film will finally reveal more about Finn. However, Boyega seemed to be more concerned about other things.

"We're gonna get bits of bits, we're gonna get sprinkles like chocolate chips," he said. "But what we have to deal with right now is this new enemy. And why is Rey dressed like that? I mean, who decided her wardrobe?"

We're guessing that Finn didn't choose the black hooded outfit that Rey is wearing in the TROS footage that was screened at D23. But could Palpatine be her stylist? Boyega isn't keen to answer that but hopefully, we'll learn more soon.

Of course, there's a possibility that Boyega is referring to Palpatine as the "new enemy" although technically, Sheev's the oldest enemy in the Star Wars films. Nevertheless, Palpatine can't be the only threat that the heroes will have to deal with in The Rise of Skywalker. Let's just hope we'll get a glimpse of these other baddies when a new trailer is dropped.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is scheduled for release on December 20.
