Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Tracking for a $200 Million Opening Weekend

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is going to be one of the biggest films of the year, so it shouldn't come as a surprise when one hears that the film is expected to open with more than $200 million at the domestic box office during its opening weekend.

According to The Hollywood Reporter,The Rise of Skywalker is currently tracking for an opening between $175 million and $200 million during the film's first three days of release next month. Though these numbers aren't the same as what Avengers: Endgame produced earlier this year, they're still pretty good, and we're sure that Episode IX is somehow going to beat the odds when it premieres next month.

After all, the past two Star Wars films had a similar situation. Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars; The Force Awakens were both expected to deliver around $200 million during the film's respective opening weekend. However, both movies managed to earn much higher than what early box office projections had predicted.

Of course, fans shouldn't really be surprised over the positive numbers for The Rise of Skywalker. There's a whole lot riding on the movie. Not only is Episode IX supposed to serve as the end of Lucasfilm's sequel trilogy, but it's also supposed to serve as the final chapter in the Skywalker saga.

Star Wars fans wouldn't want to miss The Rise of Skywalker seeing how important the movie is to the franchise.
