According Making Star Wars, a reliable source of information regarding Star Wars production and behind the scenes, younger versions of Leia and Luke will be featured early in the film. The information comes from Pinewood Studios filmmakers who are "involved, associated, and near the production."

The scene may have something to do with a long-standing mystery in the Star Wars cinematic universe--why Leia didn't pursue the Jedi path like Luke did. Based on the information they have, the folks over at Making Star Wars believe that the Skywalker twins saw an alarming vision that they unfortunately didn't interpret correctly.

Perhaps this vision informed that it would be best for Leia to stay away from the Jedi path to raise her son Ben Solo. However, her decision to be a general inadvertently causes the very thing they wanted to avoid.

If this is the case, the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker flashback sequence will cement the fact that the Skywalkers aren't very good at interpreting premonitions. Just look at how things turned out for Anakin in Return of the Jedi after seeing Padme die in his dream.

Luke himself ended up triggering Ben Solo's turn to the dark side after he tried to murder him upon seeing darkness in him. Indeed, it is hard to blame them. You can't expect them to sit around and do anything about impending danger when they think they have been giving a chance to prevent it from happening.

Carrie Fisher's daughter Billie Lourd, who is also in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker as Resistance member Connix, will reportedly be a stand-in for this scene. For Luke, Mark Hamill is expected to be de-aged probably with the same tech Marvel Studios used to take a couple of decades off Samuel L. Jackson and Clark Gregg in Captain Marvel.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters this December.
