Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Might Confirm Kylo Ren Lied About Rey's Parents In The Last Jedi

There are several reasons why people didn't enjoy Star Wars: The Last Jedi. For instance, the revelation about Rey's parentage didn't rest well with the viewers. However, it looks like we are set to learn more about Rey's family in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and it's possible that the film will confirm that Kylo Ren had been lying all along.

In The Last Jedi, Kylo Ren forced Rey to admit the truth about her parents being "nobody." Kylo even went on to state that her parents were "filthy junk traders" who sold Rey for "drinking money." The scene somehow closed the door on several theories that expected Rey to be the descendant of some powerful Force user. However, The Rise of Skywalker director J.J. Abrams has teased that we will learn more about her heritage soon.

"I will say that we knew going into this that this movie had to be a satisfying conclusion, and we're well aware that that is one of the things that's sort of been out there," Abrams told ABCNews. "I don't want to say that what happens in Episode VIII — you know, we've honored that. But I will say there's more to the story than you've seen."

So does this mean we'll learn a little bit more about Rey's true lineage this year? Perhaps The Rise of Skywalker will explain why she was left in Jakku in the first place. Was she being hidden away from someone because of her Force sensitivity?

There are speculations that although Rey believes her parents were "nobodies", they might still turn out to be an important part of the story. Hopefully, the truth will finally be revealed this December.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20.
