Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Leaves More Than A Thousand Cinemas

It looks like Star Wars: The Rise of Skywaker continues to do much, much poorly in cinemas. While the third and final entry in Disney's Star Wars sequel trilogy finally managed to rake in $1 billion at the box office, the film continued trailing behind its predecessors, the weakest entry in Lucasfilm's newest set of Skywalker movies.

Now, it looks like the follow-up to Star Wars: The Last Jedi continues to suffer losses. According to a report by Forbes,The Rise of Skywalker has just lost screenings in about 1,200 theaters, a major set-back to fans hoping that the film might do better at the box office.

Apparently, the film is now just showing in 3,053 cinemas, a number that reads much, much less than the 4, 279 movie houses that were screening Episode IX during the film's opening. It might even sound odd, but Jumanji: The Next Level even got to eat The Rise of Skywalker, opening in 200 films more than the third and final Star Was movie in Disney's sequel trilogy.

The Next Level also lost less cinemas than Episode IX. Right now, the Jumanji movie is screening in 3, 323 cinemas – much more than the number of cinemas screening The Rise of Skywalker.

There are probably many reasons why The Rise of Skywalker isn't doing as well as fans expected, but the main one is because of the film's poor reception. Episode IX has become one of the most divisive films in the Skywalker saga, raking in mixed to negative reviews from critics.
