Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Final Trailer Offers First Look At Palpatine

In case you missed it, the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker final trailer is out and it's causing fans to have a meltdown. But it isn't just the sheer number of ships or that epic fight between Rey and Kylo Ren that has people talking. Some believe that we finally got our first look at Emperor Sheev Palpatine in the teaser.

Did you miss it? There were several references to the Emperor scattered throughout the trailer, from the evil-looking throne to the Death Star throne room to his eerie message, "Long have I waited, and now, you're coming together." However, some believe that one particular scene featured a brief glimpse at Darth Sidious.

The scene appears near the end of the trailer when a nervous Rey is shown backing away from a menacing figure. Although we don't see the figure too clearly, it appears to be wearing a dark cloak like the one that Sidious has always worn.

Unfortunately, we don't get to see the face of the figure. Nevertheless, people are convinced that Palpatine is threatening Rey in the scene. For now, we'll have to wait until December to find out for sure.

Tickets for The Rise of Skywalker are currently available online and it has been revealed that Episode IX has already defeated Avengers: Endgame in ticket sales on its first hour alone. So it looks like the final film in the Skywalker Saga will end up being the biggest movie of the year.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20.
