It's no secret that Star Wars: The Mandalorian is loved by thousands of fans worldwide. With the addition of an unexpected and adorable character named The Child, it seems like nothing could go wrong with this show. Along with the handful of directors who worked on the series, would The Rise of Skywalker director want to add himself to the list?

In a recent interview with Comic Book for the Episode IX press tour, J.J. Abrams was asked if he'd ever want to direct a The Mandalorian episode in the future after working on The Rise of Skywalker. "If they asked, I'd be open to it," the director said.

However, he pointed out that he doesn't know if his "new partners at Warners would be happy about it." That being said, he seems to be willing to do so because the director said he "loves" Jon Favreau, and he also loves what The Mandalorian showrunner is doing.

Aside from Abrams, The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson is also open to directing an episode for the show. "If I had the time, I would get there in a heartbeat," the director admitted.

For now, Star Wars fans can look out for Abrams' work for Episode IX since there seems to be a lot of things that are about to go down. And according to Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey in the sequel trilogy, there's "a lot to digest" in the film.
