Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Concept Art Reveals Connection to The Mandalorian and Solo

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker might be the final entry in the Skywalker saga, however, newly released concept art for the film seems to feature a connection to two different Star Wars spinoffs – Solo: A Star Wars Story and Star Wars: The Mandalorian.

Star Wars concept designer Jake Lunt Davis just recently shared some of his work on Instagram, and his new post seemingly reveals three background characters that were supposed to appear in the third and final installment of Disney's Star Wars sequel trilogy.

The image features a group of three girls lounging around a speeder. Not only does this concept art offer a cool girl gang for Star Wars, but it also gives The Rise of Skywalker a deeper connection to other entries in the franchise.

According to Lunt, the character in the center was a species in Star Wars: The Last Jedi that made appearances in Solo and The Mandalorian. Had the character appeared in Episode IX, the film would have had ties to Jon Favreau's hit Star Wars live-action series and to Lucasfilm's second Star Wars spinoff.

"The girl on the left was an alien I did for the casino in The Last Jedi and the centre girl was also a species for TLJ as well as making appearances in Solo and the Mandalorian. And a Twi'Lek in the right," the concept artist revealed in his post.

It's such a shame that these cool cats never made it into The Rise of Skywalker. They would have been a great addition to the film.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is available for streaming on Disney+.
