Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Collectibles Might Have Given Us a First Look at Palpatine

Palpatine's return in the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker still remains a mystery. Fans are trying to figure out how the Sith Lord somehow found a way to be alive but there's no telling how they plan to make Palpatine appear as in the upcoming movie. And although we have no clue of what he looks like yet, some TROS-inspired merch could give us a hint.

Alamo Draft House recently released some glass arts which includes designs of both the Light and Dark Side. A Redditor with the handle u/LamppostInfiltrator pointed out the glasses on the website. Seen on the first one of these glasses is Palpatine, who appears to be looking similar as he did in the Return of the Jedi.

The only difference is that the design seems to be showing that the Sith Lord has red bags under his eyes. You can check out the photo here.

The design was made by artist Cesar Moreno. And even though this is a bit of a different take on Palpatine's look, it is very likely that these designs were a decision ultimately made by the artist himself. So it's safe to assume that Palpatine won't look anything like this in the film.

Palpatine's return has been teased from the very first The Rise of Skywalker trailer. Since then, a lot of the fans speculated that Palpatine somehow survived the fall from the second Death Star in ROTJ. Multiple theories are popping out about how he managed to be alive, considering that he is already very old and is a very dangerous drop. For now, we'll have to wait and see how J.J. Abrams justifies Palpatine's return in the upcoming movie.

With that said, if you are interested in the glasses, these are actually limited edition and are only available to those who purchased The Rise of Skywalker ticket.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres on December 20, 2019.
