At this point, anything can happen in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, right? After all, they're already bringing Emperor Palpatine back in Episode IX. But is there something else that might please fans these December? One of the film's latest teasers possibly hinted at a major Knights of the Old Republic connection.
The clip from The Rise of Skywalker was shared on the Star Wars Movies Facebook page and it is mostly about Kylo Ren. In the video, Kylo arrives at a dark planet and immediately enters a large structure that leads him underground. As he looks around, he hears the voice of Palpatine declaring, "My boy, I have been every voice you have ever heard inside your head." Watch it below.
That was pretty dark and awesome, wasn't it? But did you notice something behind Kylo as he made his way down the structure?
It might not look like much but as one Twitter site has pointed out, that might actually be a statue of Darth Nihilus.
If this is true, then it's an awesome nod to Knights of the Old Republic. Hopefully, we'll get a better glimpse at the statues when The Rise of Skywalker finally premieres next week.
The synopsis for The Rise of Skywalker reads as follows:
"A year after the events of The Last Jedi, the remnants of the Resistance face the First Order once againāwhile reckoning with the past and their own inner turmoil. Meanwhile, the ancient conflict between the Jedi and the Sith reaches its climax, bringing the Skywalker saga to a definitive end."
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20.
