There's no denying that The Mandalorian has dominated the world of streaming and with two successful seasons under its belt and an upcoming season that promises to be the biggest one yet, the sky is the limit for the hit Star Wars spinoff series. Now, there's been talk within the fandom surrounding a potential cinematic expansion for the show and it looks like it's getting more plausible by the day and that's according to showrunner Jon Favreau himself.

Despite the director's intention to keep the show on streaming, he shared a promising update on the possibility of Din Djarin and Grogu taking their adventures from the small to the big screen in the future.

Favreau tells Variety: "There’s always an opportunity when you have a set of characters and stories that people connect with that you could cross media into different areas. Marvel does it quite effectively."

He added: "It’s just a matter of where our time should be spent and what the appetite of the audience is. With all these stories we’re telling, it definitely is a full-time job just keeping this going with what we’re doing now. Television has a much different rhythm and schedule than film does."

As it stands, we still don't know what the future holds for the beloved series although rumor has it that Lucasfilm already has Season 4 lined up. The idea of The Mandalorian being presented on the big screen is a massive opportunity too tempting to pass up and I'm pretty sure Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni realize that. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out.

The third season of The Mandalorian is hitting Disney+ on March 1, 2023.
