The first season of The Mandalorian has ensured that the world would be obsessed with Baby Yoda. However, there is one person who is undoubtedly determined to get his hands on the Child. But why does Star Wars villain Moff Gideon really want the Child? Giancarlo Esposito has somehow revealed his character's true intentions.
Esposito recently spoke to IGN about The Mandalorian and the former Breaking Bad star teased on why Gideon is so interested in Baby Yoda.
"I know ... Like any great leader or scientist -- clue, clue, clue -- with someone who is advanced in a certain way, yeah, you could want to be their best friend, or you could want to co-opt what is inside them to figure out how to make all of us a little better at humanity," Esposito said. "So it's that power and control of a Moff leader who is trying to put the universe back together."
It sounds like Gideon has big plans for the Child that has nothing to do with Baby Yoda's safety. Interestingly, Esposito also teased on another important part of Gideon's power.
"How does he know everything? How does he know everything that's going on? He's a very interesting character and I'm so honored to be a part of this production," Esposito said.
Gideon is definitely one of the most interesting characters in The Mandalorian. Although his survival in the previous season finale could mean trouble for Din Djarin and Baby Yoda, we're already looking forward to what Gideon will do next in the second season.
The Mandalorian Season 2 is currently in production. The series will then return on Disney+ this Fall.
