Star Wars: The Mandalorian Star Giancarlo Esposito Teases Intense Darksaber Action

Star Wars fans were surprised when the season 1 finale of Star Wars: The Mandalorian revealed the shocking appearance of the Mandalorian Darksaber.

Introduced in The Clone Wars, the Darksaber was an ancient black-bladed lightsaber created by Tarres Vizsla, the first Mandalorian to be inducted into the Jedi Order. While the weapon has made an appearance in Star Wars Rebels, fans weren't expecting the lightsaber to make its way into the hands of Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian.

Now, as fans patiently wait for the second season of Jon Favreau's hit Star Wars series to make its way to Disney+, Moff Gideon actor Giancarlo Esposito subtly teases Darksaber fights in the next batch of episodes of The Mandalorian.

Speaking in an interview with Variety Aftershow, The Mandalorian star promises a whole lot of action in the second season of the series. Apparently, he's already broken more than three Darksaber props.

"I hope I don't get busted, but maybe they won't mind," Esposito told the entertainment news outlet in an interview clip posted on Twitter, "I've gone through one, two, three, three and a half I think I've broken already. I mean, but I go at it. Like, I go at it...I've broken a few of them to the point where the property guys, they love me, but they go, 'Man, you go all in!' They go, 'Just so you know'--they whisper to me--'We only have one more!'"

Is Moff Gideon going to use the Darksaber in a fight against Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal)? Are we going to see Ahsoka or Sabine try to retrieve the Darksaber from Moff Gideon? Will the second season of The Mandalorian explain how the lightsaber ended up with Gideon in the first place?

Let's wait and see.

The second season of Star Wars: The Mandalorian is set to premiere sometime later this year.
