Star Wars: The Mandalorian did pretty well at the Emmy Awards this week. Behind Watchmen which lead the announcement with 26 nominations, Lucasfilm's hit Star Wars series managed to score a whopping 15 nominations including nominations for Outstanding Drama Series and a slew of nominations for technical categories.
Jon Favreau's Star Wars series is also up for a nomination for Best Guest Actor in a Drama Series for Giancarlo Esposito's role as the dangerous and sinister Moff Gideon. Interestingly enough, that isn't Esposito's only Emmy nomination this year. The Breaking Bad star is also up for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama for his role as Gus Fring in the critically-acclaimed series, Better Call Saul.
With two nominations in his pocket, Eposito decided to take to Twitter to celebrate. Sharing a video on the social media platform, Esposito discussed his Emmy nominations, saying that he was glad that he was a double nominee. The actor also thanked his fans and family for supporting and believing in him.
"I'm a little bit emotional," Esposito said in the video. "What a great morning. I had no idea that the Emmy announcements were coming today and I just got a phone call, I'm a double nominee. I just want to say thank you to all my fans and my family for supporting me and believing in me. Mandalorian! Better Call Saul! It's really exciting to still be as passionate as I am about what I do, and about how I present myself as an actor and a human being."
We aren't surprised that Esposito has double nominations. The Breaking Bad star is a great actor. We're crossing our fingers in hopes that he wins both categories.
