We're learning a little bit more about Mando with every new episode of The Mandalorian and this week's chapter is no different. In addition to revealing some interesting new details about Pedro Pascal's bounty hunter, Chapter Six: The Prisoner also introduced a slew of cool new characters, some of which are played by familiar Star Wars names.
SPOILERS AHEAD, PROCEED WITH CAUTION!
In Chapter Six: The Prisoner, Mando works with another group of bounty hunters led by Ranzar Malk (Sons of Anarchy's Mark Boone Jr.) who are on a mission to break someone out of prison. They might be a ragtag team but it's an all-star cast including Game of Thrones' Natalia Tena as Xi'an the Twi'lek, comedian Bill Burr as Mayfeld, and The IT Crowd's Richard Ayoade as the droid Zero. Oh, and Clone Wars' Clancy Brown is also here as Burg.
Brown isn't the only big name from the Star Wars animated shows who is making a live-action appearance in The Mandalorian. Matt Lanter (that's right, Anakin Skywalker himself) from Clone Wars also appears as a New Republic officer and although he doesn't show his face, we know that voice anywhere. Unfortunately, he is immediately dispatched by the bounty hunters.
But wait, there's more! At one point, three X-Wing fighters show up to go after a New Republic homing beacon on Qin, the prisoner who turns out to have a history with Mando. The pilots are played by The Mandalorian directors Dave Filoni, Deborah Chow, and Famuyiwa himself. So yes, these three geniuses are officially part of Star Wars canon.
The sixth episode is certainly exciting considering the high stakes and the awesome cameos from established Star Wars names. We're just a little sad that there isn't much of Baby Yoda in The Prisoner but that could change in the next episode.
