Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s Novel Reveals That Palpatine Actually Knew About Snoke

Star Wars fans might not know it, but Darth Sidious actually knew about Snoke's existence before he passed away.

Palpatine might have been one of the biggest villains of the Star Wars saga, threading his web in both the prequel and original trilogies. The Republic falls through his manipulations and Palpatine later on builds the Empire, a regime which lasts for a two whole decades. However, while Darth Sidious seems to the epitome of power in the first six films in the Star Wars franchise, later on fans get to meet a Dark Side user even more powerful than Palpatine in Lucasfilm's sequel trilogy.

Of course, the two never really meet, but according to the novelization of Star Wars: The Last Jedi (via Cinema Blend) Darth Sidious actually senses Snoke before he gets tossed down the shaft of the Death Star in Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi.

Fans might not have gotten to see it in the film, but the book reveals that though he wasn't really sure who or what he was sensing, Palpatine sensed Snoke through the Force right before his death. If Palpatine had more time to live we're sure that he would have taken steps to eliminate Snoke, but because of his death Snoke gained power enough to build his own First Order decades later after the end of the Empire. When one villain falls, another rises in his place.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi's digital release is on March 13. The film's Blu-Ray release is on March 27.
