Star Wars: The Last Jedi Emotional Scene Changed One Major Detail From The Script

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is officially one year old and the film continues to be a hot topic for many fans. Interestingly, the movie's script has resurfaced and it reveals that a major detail was changed in Episode VIII.

The epic Throne Room sequence was one of the most memorable moments in The Last Jedi because of how it concluded. After killing Snoke and the Elite Praetorian Guards, Kylo Ren asked Rey to join him in leaving everything behind. The scene also revealed the truth about Rey's parentage and the destruction of the Skywalker lightsaber. However, there was one major difference from the screenplay, as revealed by Script To Screen.

The stark difference is that the lightsaber was immediately turned off as soon as the two had finished fighting the guards. However, in the script, Kylo only turns off the weapon after asking Rey to join him. Nevertheless, the film made a great call in keeping the lightsaber out of everybody's mind until the last moment when Rey decided she should take it away from Kylo.

The emotional sequence also left several questions unanswered. Some believe that Kylo was lying about Rey's parentage and was using her own fears against her in an effort to convince her to join him. Hopefully, this will be answered once Rey and Kylo return to the big screen next year.

Adam Driver and Daisy Ridley will return as Kylo Ren and Rey in Star Wars: Episode IX, which is scheduled for release on December 20, 2019.
