Star Wars The Last Jedi: Details On Luke's 'Family Reunion,' Rey’s Training, And Porgs

Though Luke Skywalker was largely absent from The Force Awakens, he'll be playing a major part in Star Wars: The Last Jedi — heck, he's who the title is referring to. Since Luke has spent most of the time in isolation, a reunion among his friends is certainly due, and we get some details on it thanks to Making Star Wars.

According to the site, Luke will have a "beautiful moment" when he's reunited with Chewbacca and R2-D2. Fans will recall that Chewie and R2 were with Rey in the Millennium Falcon when they went off to find Luke, so there's no doubt that the three will be reunited once more, all thanks to Rey.

There is, however, no news on whether Luke will be reunited with his sister Leia. With Luke seemingly getting pulled back into the war, his twin may definitely need him to help her in the fight against the First Order. What's more, seeing that this is Carrie Fisher's last Star Wars movie, it might be a nice moment to see the two reunited.

On the fun side, Chewbacca will find some new friends on Luke's planet of Ach-To. He's said to have befriended these bird-like creatures called "porgs" that inhabit the island. Seeing that he just lost one of his oldest friends in Han Solo, the wookie deserves to have some lighter moments.

Lastly, Luke will indeed be training Rey in the way Yoda trained him, however, he'll be having his "own spin" on this version of training. Seeing as his last student, Ben Solo a.k.a. Kylo Ren ended up destroying his new Jedi academy, Luke will have most likely seen the flaw in the traditional way Jedi were trained. The term "Grey Jedi" has been thrown around a lot.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi comes out on Dec. 15.
