Star Wars: The Last Jedi Actor Felt Bad He Wasn’t Able to Return in TROS

Star Wars director J.J. Abrams might insist that he had no intention of retconning Star Wars: The Last Jedi when he made Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, however, it's been very clear to fans and to critics that a lot of storylines and elements set up in Episode VIII were ignored in Episode VI.

One of these elements includes The Last Jedi's Broom Boy, an unnamed boy who's revealed to have Force-sensitivity during the final scene of the film.

Speaking in an interview with Jamie Stangroom on the personality's YouTube Channel, Broom Boy actor Temirlan Blaev opened up about feeling left out of The Rise of Skywalker. According to the young Star Wars actor, he wasn't entirely sure about the significance of his character, whether he would play a larger role in the sequel trilogy or whether the Force-sensitivity of Broom Boy was simply part and parcel of the message that The Last Jedi was trying to portray.

"I wasn't sure because it could have been, yes, he would've continued my story, how Rey would have trained me or helped me in some way. But then at the same time, am I really that important? Am I someone big or am I really just a boy, a lucky boy in a galaxy far, far away?" Blaev said during his interview with Stangroom, "A lot of people were asking me [about returning], and I said, ‘We'll have to wait and see if I get called back. But I guess I kind of understand why it happened."

Of course, as much as Star Wars fans would want to see more of Broom Boy in the sequel trilogy, Blaev does make a good point. It's possible that his character was simply being used as a symbol for the many others in the galaxy who could use the Force.

There's a lot of room for the character to return again though. After all, now that The Rise of Skywalker is over, Star Wars is finally moving away from the Skywalker saga.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is available for streaming on Disney+.
