Star Wars: The Clone Wars Actor Matt Lanter Wants to Play Hal Jordan, 'Throws Shade' at Ryan Reynolds' Green Lantern

There is little doubt that being a part of a comic book franchise is a cool job that any actor would be interested in. So it's no surprise that Star Wars: The Clone Wars actor Matt Lanter would love to play Green Lantern in a possible DC Extended Universe project. However, he also threw some shade, at least as a joke, at Ryan Reynolds.

Lanter, who is currently promoting his new series Jupiter's Legacy, recently answered posted by fans through CBR. One fan stated that the Timeless star is actually a popular fancast for the live-action version of Hal Jordan and asked if Lanter was open to taking on the role.

Interestingly, Lanter pointed out something that should easily explain why he's the perfect man for the role.

"Well, to that I would say, Green Lantern, my name is Matt Lanter. I mean is that coincidental? I think not. Could anyone do it better than Lanter? Maybe not," he said. He then poked fun at Reynolds, who previously played the character in the 2011 film.

"No shame, Ryan Reynolds. I'm just kidding. I love Ryan Reynolds, he's fantastic," the Anakin Skywalker voice actor said. He concluded, "Would I be open to it? Yeah, sure, why not!"

We're not exactly surprised that Lanter is eager to play Hal. After all, it's an awesome role and one that would promise multiple films. However, it's important to point out that Hal is not yet one of the confirmed characters who will appear in the planned Green Lantern Corps movie. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

It was previously confirmed that Finn Wittrock will play Guy Gardner in a planned Green Lantern series that is separate from the DCEU film. In the meantime, Lanter will portray a different superhero named Skyfox in Jupiter's Legacy, which premieres on Netflix on May 7.
