George Lucas may no longer be involved in the new Star Wars projects but it looks like Lucasfilm has found someone who could come up with the same brilliant ideas. Star Wars: The Clone Wars voice actor Sam Witwer hyped up the upcoming season of The Mandalorian simply by pointing out that Dave Filoni has the same instincts as Lucas.
Witwer recently spoke to Star Wars Holocron where he stated that there are great things to look forward to in The Mandalorian Season 2 because Filoni is one of the executive producers.
"There are things that [Filoni] has coming in The Mandalorian Season 2 that are going to blow people's minds," Witwer revealed. "Because the thing is that Dave and George always had the same instinct when it came to this."
Wait, what exactly does that mean? Witwer continued by sharing an interesting example from The Clone Wars.
"And what this is is that they would ask them, ‘Okay we need to tell a story about witches.' And then they'd sit there and say, ‘Well do we have something like that in Star Wars? What about the Nighsisters of Dathomir. They're witches.' Yeah, okay, wait a second now, [George and Dave] go in and look at the designs and look at how it looks and go ‘yeah that fits.' And sometimes [George and Dave] would be like ‘Oh that doesn't fit, we actually have to do this instead, right?'"
It's important to point out that Filoni worked with Lucas in developing The Clone Wars in its early days. With that in mind, it's possible that Lucas now trusts Filoni with the direction he is taking with The Mandalorian along with Jon Favreau. Needless to say, Witwer's words have us excited for the second season.
The Mandalorian Season 2 has not been given an official release date just yet but is set to premiere on Disney+ later this year.
