Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett Reveals Shocking Rogue One Connection

There is little doubt that fans got a little carried away while watching the latest episode of The Book of Boba Fett since it felt like they were tuning in to a different Star Wars show. After all, EpisoAfter all, Episode de 5 focused mainly on Din Djarin, the protag, the lead protagonist of The Mandalorian. However, this week's episode also gave us a surprising new look at a fan-favorite character from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story!

In The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5, it is revealed that Din Djarin continues to use the Darksaber. However, he isn't aware of the weapon's history and importance to Mandalore. Luckily, the Armorer schools him on what happened to the Mandalorians when their home was destroyed by the Galactic Empire.

This meant a flashback to the Fall of Mandalore which featured some unexpected villains. The scene reveals that it was KX-series security droids who executed any survivors during the attack.

It's a shocking reminder that K-2SO or Kaytoo from Rogue One was once a feared droid before he was reprogrammed by Cassian Andor and became a hero of the Rebel Alliance. Although Kaytoo was a true friend to Andor and his companions (yes, even to Jyn Erso), there was a time that he worked for the Galactic Empire and may have been one of the droids who attacked Mandalore.

The KX-series droids were not the only ones who showed up in The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5. We also got a glimpse at a BD unit droid working with Djarin in Peli Motto's shop. It's unclear if this is BD-1 from Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order or a different droid but it was a cool connection to the video game.

The Book of Boba Fett Episode 5 is now streaming on Disney+.
