Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2 Episode 7 Recap

In Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2 Episode 7, titled The Clone Conspiracy, Rampart is at the Imperial Senate pushing for a bill to be passed on the authorization of military recruitment of Imperial citizens and that means that the clones will be discarded.

Senator Riyo Chuchi is not on board with the idea of the clones being discarded as she defends the fundamental rights of the clones. She is approached by a clone trooper, Slip, a friend of Cade, one who was murdered by Rampart who defied orders in Kamino.

Being a supporter of clone rights, Senator Chuchi starts an investigation on Rampart's conspiracy through alerting the admiral. Well, that didn't go quite well because an assassin is sent to kill Slip just when Senator Chuchi convinces him to testify.

Senator Chuchi is lucky enough because before being killed, she is rescued by Rex. Slip made sure that help is always there so Rex arrived. However, when they are about to interrogate the assassin, it turns out to be a clone who chose to kill himself before spilling any answers.

In Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2 Episode 8, titled Truth and Consequences, Rex knows they need more help so he calls on The Bad Batch to assist him and Senator Chuchi on Coruscant, and he informs the team about what Rampart is planning.

They need evidence so Rex requests the Bad Batch to get Slip's copy of the command log of Rampart from the Star Destroyer, a Venator, that is currently under maintenance.

Omega stays with Chuchi to convince other senators to support their cause against Rampart's plans while Rex and the Bad Batch go to Slip's cruiser to get the evidence that they need. However, they trigger an alarm sending them to chaos, barely making it out.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2 Episode 8 Recap

The following day, Senator Chuchi makes a huge statement at the Senate to accuse Rampart of his deeds and with the evidence in her hands from Slip's cruiser, Rampart gets arrested.

However, their efforts are all down the drain as Emperor Palpatine, himself, personally gives an order for the passage of the Imperial recruitment bill and he reveals that such has been his plan all along.

The Bad Batch is about to leave Coruscant when they get a surprising farewell. Echo wants to stay with Rex and he is already decided. Not even Omega can convince Echo to leave with them. Echo knows that the clones need more help, and with this, Chuchi promises to continue to fight for the right of clones.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2 Episodes 7 and 8 Easter Eggs

Both of the episodes are teeming with Easter eggs which connects the series to other Star Wars titles.

In Episode 7, there's the appearance of 8D8 who was seen in The Book of Boba Fett, familiar names of the drafters of the Defense Recruitment Bill such as Senator Shu Mai who is the leader of the commerce guild in Attack of the Clones, and Senator Pamlo who appeared in Rogue One.

R2-C4 is another cameo and the droid formed part of Kazuda Xiono's squadron in Star Wars Resistance. There's also the Martez Family Garage and the Martez sisters are well known from Season 7 of The Clone Wars.

In Episode 8, there's more! Another senator is a familiar face from The Clone Wars, Halle Burtoni. Then, there is is Emperor Palpatine who gives a speech and none other than Ian McDiarmid is playing the character.

Still, the biggest blow that The Bad Batch received is when Echo wanted to stay behind and that's not because he doesn't like the group anymore, it's just that Echo knows that he could be of better service in Coruscant, helping the cause of the clones.

Echo's farewell, hopefully, wouldn't be the last time they would see each other. Anyway, they know where to find him and he is helping a bigger cause, something that could provide for the future of the clones in the narrative. Surely, Senator Chuchi will have Echo and Rex under protection.
