Star Wars: The Acolyte Cast Hype Series; Insist It Will Be Mind-blowing

Star Wars fans have so much to look forward to in the coming years after Lucasfilm announced at this year’s Star Wars Celebration the slate of upcoming Star Wars movies and exciting details about their Disney+ shows. One of the most anticipated series in their catalog is The Acolyte, and its cast took the opportunity to boost their upcoming mystery thriller series and share what makes it so outstanding.

In a group interview with Screen Rant, the cast explained how The Acolyte sets itself apart from the Star Wars mythos like never before, as it intends to showcase a deeper understanding of the dark side. Manny Jacinto (A Good Place) teased where the Frozen meets Kill Bill similarities came from, stating that the acolyte's physicality and battle choreography will be handled substantially.

“It’s that action. The guys that have done our action are on another level, and it’s something that I feel like we’ve kind of been missing out on in the Star Wars universe. It’s how Leslye described it; that Kill Bill aspect of it. It’s as raw as we can go, considering it’s Disney, but it’s the physicality of things. We’re hopefully gonna take it to the next level.” said Jacinto.

Meanwhile, Jodie Turner-Smith took the chance to praise Amandla Stenberg as the lead which gave her the push to take on her role. “We have a Black lead, and that alone is so groundbreaking and amazing and encouraging and exciting as a fan. To have someone as talented as Amandla? As an actor, that was very exciting. She was what made me want to sign up for it because I respect her so much as an actor. She’s so talented, and you guys have no idea what’s coming.” narrated Smith.

The Acolyte, set towards the end of the High Republic era, stars Stenberg (Bodies, Bodies, Bodies) as an unnamed former padawan who, along with her former Jedi Master, played by Lee Jung-Jae (Squid Game), attempts to investigate a series of strange crimes as a darknes descends upon the galaxy.

The Dark Side of the Force has been an untackled concept in the franchise, but The Acolyte is about to change that, and that's just one of the reasons this series deserves to be looked forward to.

The Acolyte premieres on Disney+ sometime in 2024.
