Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Reportedly Taps Thunderbolts Director to Helm an Episode

One of the Star Wars series that is set to premiere soon is Skeleton Crew, a coming-of-age story that is set after the events of Return of the Jedi and around the same time frame as The Mandalorian. Production for the series wrapped months ago ahead of its potential release later this year.

For the past couple of months, we've been hearing some interesting production updates about the series as they reportedly recruited some big-name directors to helm episodes and now it looks like yet again another name has been added to the directing team.

According to One Take News, Thunderbolts director Jake Schreier is directing at least an episode of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. He is the fourth director who is confirmed to be helming an episode of the series following series co-creator Jon Watts, the Daniels, and David Lowery.

Aside from the upcoming MCU film, Schreir also directed episodes of the new Netflix series Beef starring Steven Yeun and Ali Wong, which has been receiving a lot of great buzz from critics. He also helmed the films Robot & Frank and Paper Towns. Thunderbolts will mark his next big project and it will be his second involvement in a Disney project after Skeleton Crew.

Jude Law is starring in the series. Watts and Christopher Ford, who worked together in Spider-Man: Homecoming, serve as the creators and executive producers alongside Kathleen Kennedy, Jon Favreau, and Dave Filoni.

This is an interesting development for the series since it is yet again another sign that they were able to nab big-name directors to join the project for at least an episode. Schreir's directing career is certainly on the rise now since he now has his name attached to the two big franchises.
