Star Wars Screenwriter Says Disney Will ‘Beat Her Up’ if She Talks About Mystery Project

The Star Wars universe may have found a great deal of success on streaming thanks to The Mandalorian, but Lucasfilm is still determined to keep its film franchise afloat despite the mixed reception The Rise of Skywalker got. As it stands, the production company is currently working on several movie projects, including Patty Jenkins' Rogue Squadron, the untitled film produced by Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige, and a rumored Star Wars Episode X among others.

Another project currently in the works is Taika Waititi's standalone film, a project that is still shrouded in mystery up to this point. Even his co-writer Krysty Wilson-Cairns says that she isn't allowed to share details about the film but she did offer a promising update during an interview with Variety, revealing that they're currently in the stage of researching to make sure they won't disappoint fans.

She said: "You have to research, study and spend a lot of time to get it right. It's really important to honor not only your commitment to it but also to the legions of fans out there."

Back in October, Wilson-Cairns said that she's not allowed to talk about the upcoming project in fear of Mickey Mouse giving her a nasty beating. During a conversation with Slash Film, the screenwriter said: "It's dangerous you're asking these questions. You know if I answer incorrectly, Mickey Mouse will burst into this room and beat me up? And I was in therapy for years about that fear, so it's clear and present."

Reading between Wilson-Cairns' lines, it's safe to say that they don't want to commit the same errors the divisive sequel trilogy did. I gotta say though, Taika has already proven his worth in the Star Wars universe and his work in The Mandalorian speaks for itself. Obviously, the yet-to-be-titled film is in good hands with Waititi at the helm. Hopefully, we get more updates about it in the coming months because it's already getting quite intriguing.
