The Star Wars franchise is on a red-hot streak as of late and after the unprecedented success of The Mandalorian, Lucasfilm is looking to maintain the momentum by adding more projects to their current Star Wars slate. One of the most anticipated projects is the standalone Obi-Wan series which would see the return of Ewan McGregor as the famed Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and Hayden Christensen's triumphant comeback as Anakin Skywalker aka Darth Vader.
A lot of mystery still surrounds the exciting spinoff project which is a good thing because it'll leave us fans guessing what exactly goes down in the show. All we know for now is that Obi-Wan is set 10 years after Revenge of the Sith but aside from that, everything still remains under wraps. But what if the show could reintroduce a beloved Star Wars character back to the official canon?
I'm talking about Galen Marek aka Starkiller who made his first SW appearance in the hit 2008 video game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. The character instantly gained a strong following amongst fans but he isn't recognized in the canon but could that changed in Obi-Wan? After all, Starkiller shares a storied history with Darth Vader, and reintroducing him to the fold would be a great move. Artist @briiedit shared his amazing artwork depicting Sam Witwer as the live-action version of Starkiller, the same character he voiced in the games. Check it out here:
If there's one thing The Mandalorian taught us, it's to expected the unexpected in the Star Wars franchise. Just because Galen is currently recognized as a non-canon character, it doesn't mean that he can't make his way back to the official canon. A prime example is Admiral Thrawn who has been considered non-canon for so many years but eventually got reintroduced in Star Wars Rebels. He's even being teased to appear in The Mandalorian Season 3.
Obi-Wan is scheduled for release in 2022.
