Star Wars: Rian Johnson Snaps Back At Fan Who Complains That Women Have Taken Over Star Wars

Ever since Disney got a hold of Lucasfilm, we've gotten two new Star Wars movies with women in the lead role. Though some may say that this is a good step for gender equality within the franchise, some fans have been complaining that Star Wars is already being taken over by women. Apparently, director Rian Johnson has something to say to all the whiners:

It's no mystery that Star Wars may have a lack of representing women in cinema, which is a shame since it includes one of the strongest women characters in film — Carrie Fisher's Princess Leia. Throughout the entire course of the original trilogy, no two women ever converse with one another, and the only woman to have lines other than Princess Leia is Mon Mothma.

Honestly, I don't see the need for any of this complaining. A good story is still a good story, and Felicity Jones and Daisy Ridley have delivered some of the best protagonists in Star Wars. Are these people just mad because they're women? You could fit a boy in the role, and it would still work perfectly! I don't understand how space battles and lightsaber fights have suddenly become women-exclusive.

True fans of Star Wars will love it for the story, and whether it be a boy or girl in the lead, it doesn't matter. Just keep pumping out the quality cinema, Lucasfilm.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi comes out Dec. 15.
