Star Wars: Rian Johnson Eager to Direct The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode

It will still be a long wait for The Mandalorian Season 3 but it looks like a Star Wars director is already hoping to helm an episode in the upcoming season. Rian Johnson has reportedly admitted that he is eager to direct an episode of the Disney+ series if he could find the time to do so.

The intel comes from Sariah Wilson, who had previously spoken to Johnson about his upcoming projects. Interestingly, Wilson shared that she had asked the filmmaker whether he would be open to working on an episode of The Mandalorian.

Interestingly, Johnson reportedly stated that "he was dying to" but he would need to check his schedule. After all, he is already writing the sequel to Knives Out and will have to shoot it right away.

"So it would be a matter of finding time to break away and do it," Wilson wrote. The tweet also revealed that Johnson has already "spoken to Dave Filoni about" possibly working on an episode of The Mandalorian Season 3.

This is an interesting idea considering that Johnson is still signed on to work on a new Star Wars trilogy. If he does end up working on an episode of The Mandalorian, Johnson could be the one director who has worked on the most Star Wars projects in history.

For now, there haven't been any updates on the next season of The Mandalorian. In addition to that, the list of directors working on the third season has not yet been revealed. Nevertheless, the series is expected to return with Season 3 in 2022.
