Star Wars’ Rey Park Has “A Lot Of Great Ideas” About Maul’s Arc After Solo

Star Wars fans were pretty surprised when Maul appeared in Solo: A Star Wars Story. The former Sith Lord's backstory wasn't personally tied to that of Han, and no one really expected the Dathomirian Zabrak to be the head of the Crimson Dawn in the Han Solo standalone movie.

Though Solo's poor commercial performance makes a sequel uncertain at this moment in time, Ray Park, the original Maul actor in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, already has ideas about how his character's story could play out in a second Solo movie.

"If anything ever happens in the future and the character is back, and it's me? I have a lot of great ideas of what I'd like to do with it," Park said in a recent interview with Forbes.

Park seems pretty eager to return to the big screen as Maul, and hopefully, the former Sith Lord will be given a long arc in the sequel to Solo. Star Wars fans who've seen the spinoff might remember that the Maul wasn't given that much time in the film, and according to the actor he had only been given a "couple of sheets of what was going on beforehand and then what was happening."

Of course, seeing as Maul is the head of the Crimson Dawn, we can imagine Maul taking center stage in another Solo movie – well if Lucasfilm were to allow it.

Star Wars: Episode IX hits cinemas December 20, 2019.
