As Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker descends upon us, leave it to Marvel for more backstory when it comes to these newer characters. Many fans are still disappointed with the way Snoke was killed off in The Last Jedi since we never got to know his motivations or see how he got so much power. Thankfully, Star Wars: Age of Resistance - Snoke #1 is here to show us how he managed to corrupt the former Ben Solo, Kylo Ren.
Revealed by Star Wars.com, the preview of this one-shot gives us one hell of a shocker; Snoke brought Kylo Ren to the Dagobah Cave to corrupt him. The irony here can be seen since this is how Luke was able to fight his corrupt feelings, thanks to Yoda's presence. Unfortunately, Snoke is here instead of Yoda and he basically tells Ben Solo to give in to all that hatred.
It's fascinating stuff and callbacks like these are why so many people still love the franchise, even if some new material would be appreciated. Seeing Ren and Snoke interact is also quite interesting, especially the way the Supreme Leader shows his respect towards Luke Skywalker. Kylo Ren calls his old master "weak," while Snoke feels that he would have taken over the galaxy if Luke was on his side.
Then again, this is probably just Snoke adding more insecurity and anger to Kylo Ren's psyche. It's typical Dark Side mind games but I don't mind; this is just how Star Wars works. Seriously, the franchise isn't as deep as people think.
Star Wars: Age of Resistance - Snoke #1 comes out on September 11. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker comes out on December 20.
