Padme's life ended in a tragedy with her own lover, Anakin, ending up killing her in a fit of rage. That said, although her funeral in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith was a heartbreaking and emotional moment, it was also a symbol of birth and a glimmer of hope.

Before her death, Padme was one of the signatories of the petition of those who were against Palpatine. In an attempt to renounce his powers and end the war against the Separatists, these signatories ended up getting killed or arrested, but Padme was the one who foresaw the rise of the Empire. In the Queen's Shadow novel, the funeral guests were united at the funeral and resolved to find out the truth behind Padme's death. Now, the second issue of the Darth Vader comic series picks up that plot thread which reveals that this group has become an influential rebel cell who worked against the Empire.

One of the major members of this group is Sabé, which was one of Padme's old handmaidens. Now that she has teamed up with Vader, they embark on a journey together. Along the way, she mentioned this, seen in the panel below.

It gives more meaning to Padme's funeral scenes which can now be seen as a symbol of hope amidst the death of a loved one. The funeral guests became Rebels by being united through Padme's belief and the things she had fought for about the Empire before she died.
