Leia Organa is officially appearing in Star Wars Resistance to guide Poe Dameron and his new protege Kazuda "Kaz" Xiono.
The release of the first trailer for Star Wars Resistance confirmed that Poe Dameron and BB-8 will be playing a major role in the animated series. However, they aren't the only characters from the film trilogy that will be making an appearance in the show. Voice actress Rachel Butera has just confirmed that she will be providing the voice of General Organa in Resistance.
Fans have been wondering if Leia will show up in Resistance. After all, the series takes place long before the events in The Force Awakens. Butera's announcement was certainly a welcome one for everyone who is hoping to see Leia back in action before Star Wars: Episode IX.
Butera has been working as a voice actress for several years. She provided the voice of Kraang Prime in the 2015 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series and played Kim Kardashian in Cab Ride to Hell. Interestingly, she was the voice of Meryl Streep in an episode of American Dad! Streep famously portrayed the character based on Carrie Fisher in Postcards from the Edge.
Leia, Poe, and BB-8 are not the only characters from the film trilogy that will appear in Resistance. Gwendoline Christie will once again step in as Captain Phasma, who may have shown up in the show's trailer.
Star Wars Resistance will premiere on the Disney Channel on October 7.
