Star Wars Reportedly Developing Luke Skywalker Disney+ Series, Sebastian Stan Eyed for Lead Role

There is little doubt that Luke Skywalker's surprise cameo in The Mandalorian Season 2 was an awesome one for Star Wars fans. But did it also hint at Disney and Lucasfilm's future plans for the Jedi Master? A new report suggests that the studios are already developing a new series that will focus on Luke and Sebastian Stan is being eyed for the lead role.

It's no secret that fans have been hoping for a Luke Skywalker series since the character returned in the season finale of The Mandalorian Season 2. After all, everyone is hoping to see more of Baby Yoda, who was whisked off by Luke to continue his Jedi training. Interestingly, that's exactly what Fandom Wire has confirmed in a report suggesting that the new show is already in development.

So what can fans expect in the new Luke Skywalker show? The report points out that since Luke will be the lead character, it would be better to simply recast the Jedi instead of de-aging Mark Hamill in several episodes. It also reveals that Stan is already been considered for the role.

This isn't the first time that Stan has been considered as a possible replacement for Hamill. Fans have long pointed out the Falcon and the Winter Soldier star's resemblance to the Star Wars actor and have repeatedly fan-cast Stan in just about every possible show. With that in mind, it wouldn't be a surprise if Disney and Lucasfilm are already eyeing the Avengers: Endgame star for the role.

For now, the planned series has not yet been confirmed by Disney and Lucasfilm so it is best to point out that these details should be taken with a grain of salt.
