A new trailer or teaser for Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi is coming soon. According to a report, Lucasfilm and Disney are preparing more footage from the upcoming Star Wars spinoff series that is set to debut on Disney+ on May 27.
The first teaser trailer of the series was released back on March 9, featuring Ewan McGregor’s return as the Jedi Master Obi-Wan, exiled on Tatooine ten years after the events that happened in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith.
There will be a lot more of Obi-Wan’s post-Sith spinoff series being teased in the new footage coming “within a week,” according to several inside sources close to MakingStarWars.net.
For now, it is still unclear if the footage is a longer trailer or just another teaser, but the new look at the Obi-Wan Kenobi series should arrive "in a couple of days," according to the report.
The first 87-second teaser trailer that was released back in March featured Obi-Wan living on the sands of Tatooine, where the former Jedi Master watches over a younger version of Luke Skywalker (Grant Feely). "The fight is done," Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan says. "We lost."
Ten years after Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) ordered a Jedi purge with the Order 66, the Grand Inquisitor (Rupert Friend) tracks what’s left of the Force users.
The teaser trailer for the spinoff series offered a peek at the Inquisitor Reva’s (Moses Ingram) pursuit of Obi-Wan but did not reveal the return of the fallen Anakin Skywalker, Darth Vader (Hayden Christensen), who was defeated on Mustafar in Revenge of the Sith.
When the student and the master meet again in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, the lightsaber duel will be "the rematch of the century," according to the president of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy. The Lucasfilm president produces the spinoff series with McGregor, director Deborah Chow (The Mandalorian), Michelle Rejwan (Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker), with Joby Harold (Army of the Dead) as the head writer of the series.
Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi will debut on Disney+ on May 27, 2022.
