Star Wars Released The Book of Boba Fett Return of a Legend Featurette

With less than a week to go until the release of the series, Lucasfilm and Disney released a new featurette titled, "Return of a Legend", previewing The Book of Boba Fett series. The featurette shows the cast and creatives discussing what the whole series is about, touching on how Boba Fett inspired The Mandalorian series and how this new spinoff series will be revealing what happened after the events of Return of the Jedi and reimagining Boba Fett for a new era. You can watch the latest The Book of Boba Fett featurette below.

The Book of Boba Fett stars Min-Na Wen as Fennec Shand and Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett. The duo is filling the power vacuum in the Star Wars galaxy’s underworld that was caused by the death of Jabba the Hutt in Return of the Jedi. The executive producers of the Book of Boba Fett are Dave Filoni, Robert Rodriguez, Jon Favreau, Colin Wilson, and Kathleen Kennedy. Carrie Beck and Karen Gilchrist are the co-executive producers, with John Hampian as co-producer and John Bartnicki being the producer.

The synopsis of the spinoff series is as follows, The Book of Boba Fett "finds legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand navigating the galaxy's underworld when they return to the sands of Tatooine to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate."

In an interview with ComicBook.com back in June, Ming-Na Wen explains how the two series, The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, differ.

"Probably there will be some similarities," Wen said. "Tonally, you know, Mando is very much a loner except for his relationship with Grogu, so just the dynamic that there's now a team of between Boba and Fennec. I think that already creates a different quality for the show. Yeah, that's about all I can say."

The spinoff series The Book of Boba Fett is one of several Star Wars shows that are going to be released on Disney+. The Mandalorian Season 3 is currently filming. The Ahsoka series will also begin filming soon. The series Obi-Wan Kenobi has wrapped up its filming back in September.

The Book of Boba Fett will be released exclusively on Disney+ on December 29, 2021.
