Star Wars Rebels Season 3 Major Plot Details Revealed

Star Wars Rebels season 2 may be finished, but that doesn't mean the rebels' journey has ended. In fact, more challenges await them on season 3.

The final episode of the Rebels Recon aftershow for Star Wars Rebels season 2 just aired its most information-filled episode yet. In it, the show's cast and crew not only talked about the climactic Rebels season 2 finale, but Lucasfilm Star Wars Story Group's Pablo Hidalgo and showrunner Dave Filoni revealed some major teasers for season 3.

No one has come out of Star Wars Rebels season 2 the same. The changes to the characters come in both physical and internal forms. Kanan is now blind, Ahsoka survives Vader, and Ezra is tempted to join the Dark Side, so expect big changes with these characters in the third season.

The video teases how Kanan's world will open up after losing his vision, which kind of reminds me of Matt Murdock in Daredevil. Then there's Ezra, who Taylor Gray (Ezra's voice actor) says will be continuing his relationship with Maul. Sabine will also "go on some very crazy adventures with people you might not expect," which is another interesting event to watch out for in the upcoming season.

Also, according to Hidalgo, Rebels season 3 will be closely tied to the events of Rogue One and A New Hope.

Hidalgo teased:

Over the course of the next season, we're going to start seeing more and more recognizable elements; we're going to see more of the Rebellion that we recognize in Episode IV and in Rogue Onetaking shape in Rebels.

This rumor of a Rogue One and Rebels crossover is starting to look more plausible than ever to me.

Meanwhile, Filoni's cryptic words to fans were:

Something big is gonna happen that I think people really, really want, and that I know I've wanted for a while. We figured out a way to do it. It's a very important moment for Star Wars and very important for Star Wars fans.

The showrunner added that he's going to "talk about that specifically" during the Star Wars Celebration Europe in July.
