Project Luminous is coming and it could change something within the Force.

At New York Comic-Con, Lucasfilm showed numerous comic books that'll be released in the future, mostly related to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. However, creative director Michael Siglain teased the upcoming Project Luminous along with a mysterious slide.

The slide appeared whilst at the panel and it says, "The Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It's an energy field created by all living things," which is a direct quote from Obi-Wan Kenobi's line in A New Hope. But the slide had a mysterious message adding, "Until… Project Luminous, 2020." Check out the slide below:

The message is somewhat ominous because Star Wars could be suggesting that the Force isn't what we thought it was. Hinting at some information that was kept all through these years that might change what we perceive of the Force.

Project Luminous was first announced at Star Wars Celebration Chicago. The project will be worked on by an "all-star team of writers," namely Cavan Scott who wrote Star Wars Adventures, Star Wars: Master & Apprentice writer Claudia Gray, Charles Soule who worked on Star Wars: Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith, Star Wars: Last Shot writer Daniel José Older, and Justina Ireland who worked on Star Wars: Lando's Luck.

Siglain also mentioned that various publishers will be involved in the project including Disney Lucasfilm Press, Del Rey, IDW Publishing, and Marvel.

Other details about the project are yet to be announced but some speculate that whatever happens in The Rise of Skywalker could lead to the mysterious event. Since Episode IX might have big revelations, it's possible that it will be something significant to the Force. Information on Project Luminous is limited because they might be avoiding spilling some major plot details.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will premiere on December 20, 2019.
