It's been three years since Star Wars last released a big-screen project and while the franchise is currently enjoying a ton of success in the streaming department, thanks to shows like The Mandalorian and Andor, fans are still yearning to see a theatrical release from Lucasfilm because quite frankly, the spectacle of Star Wars is best experienced in cinemas.
As it stands, there's a slew of film projects currently lined up with Damon Lindelof and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's upcoming movie reportedly set to headline the bunch. The yet-to-be-titled film is said to pick up where the sequel trilogy left off and could mark the return of some characters from the uber-polarizing films. Now, a new report sheds light on the project's status and it's going to please a lot of fans.
Insider Jeff Sneider of The Hot Mic podcast claims that Lindelof's upcoming film will enter production in 2023. He says: "I think [Damon] Lindelof’s movie is going to get made, and I think the Lindelof movie will probably go into production next year." Assuming cameras begin rolling for the project in the same year, is there a chance its release date will be pushed a year earlier? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
